a)Acrylic, spraypaint, enamel
q) IS A FORMAL EDUCATION IMPORTANT?
a)It depends. I have had formal education and I think I needed the direction and discipline (via grahpic design) at the time.That isn't necessarily true for everyone. And it costs a lot. Really depends on the person and what they want to get out of it. I don't really think getting a formal art education makes anyone more qualified.
q) WHAT IS THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION ABOUT ART?
a)The idea that it needs to be classified by genre.
q) WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT IN ART - CONCEPT OR EXECUTION?
a)Both are equally important to me. If the concept is to execute poorly, than I guess concept wins.

q) WHICH EMERGING ARTIST DO YOU THINK MORE PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?
a) being in art class in kindergarten and being fascinated by the the deep red crayon I was using at the time and just going to town with it on the picture I was doing, have no idea what it was. Just remember that it was like the first time I noticed what colour was and how beautiful the deep red was.
q) Who has had the greatest influence on your work?
a) The internet, You can see amazing art from all over the world not just your home town or gallery. You can see that there are others interested in creating art and that have the same view from all around the world.
q) What are the main tools of your craft?
a) Right now it is an x-acto knife and as many different colour spray cans I can get hold off
q) Is a formal education important?
a) for every day life and for understanding that there is more to life than TV a diffident YES as far as art, or your enjoyment to create something artistic.... no sometimes it is better to discover the creation of art by yourself.
q) What is the biggest misconception about art?
a) that you have to make something that the majority of sheep ( people ) like. the first and only person that should like your work should be yourself,
q) Which is more important in art - concept or execution?
a) One without the other is pointless. One is only important if in the company of the other. hu... kind of like a wedding, you can make all preparations you want but till you say I do its kind of fruitless. In the other hand if all you do is say I do than all you are really doing is looking like a fool.
q) What theme or aesthetic are you most drawn too?
a) Right now it is people, how different we, but the more different we are the more we are the same, showing that every one is son, a daughter, a wife a husband ...... that hate or prejudice against each other has to be the most stupid thing we can do as humans.
q) What is your favorite piece of art in your home?
a) I would have say my kitchen window that looks on to the world.
q) If you could collaborate with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
a) 5 min with Picasso or Andy Warhol, more so for their concept of what art should or could be, that it did not have to conform to the established norms. Living artists, there are so many amazing talented artists right now that just one would be heartbreaking
q) Which emerging artist do you think more people should know about?
a) Me! lol the word emerging is a fine line, if you are looking for a broad range of artist, many that are not currently displaying their work in galleries and some that are but have not had the due attention they should, than an hour around Flickr.com would give you a list longer than your arm. I am amazed every time I get on flickr.
q) What has been your greatest achievement to date?
a) Discovering art again after a few years of forgetting how important it was to me.
q) What has been your biggest roadblock?
a) Having to make a living to pay the mortgage and electric bill.
q) How do you define success?
a) finding and developing a style that is your own and not an imitation of someone else. if you create a body of work that is recognizable as your own then all else fulls in place.
q) What will be the name of your autobiography?
a) No idea, I would have to leave that up to some else.
q)What is the best piece of (art-related) advice you’ve ever been given?
q) Well, first of all please tell us a little about yourself.
a)Well, I'm a graphic artist from Belém do Pará, in the Brazilian Amazon where I work with advertising and with my personal projects of illustrations, now I'm moving to Buenos Aires, where I will study and work, seeking to be more creative. I was raised in a town in the interior of Pará, Abaetetuba, and I bring a lot of amazonian references for my personal life, including my job, but I was always careful not do something with a regional language only, bother to apply my references with
global language.
q) Had you always planned on being an artist [or had you other hopes]?
a)Not really. I believe I am more publicity that artist.
This has always been within me. I believe that when you have some creative talent, he is stronger than you and cross border in their projects.
q) Do you have a preferred medium to work on? Why?
a)Paper, pencil, ink, color, monitor and mouse, all mixed with my emotions.
I think more important that the medium is the present feeling in each work.
q) How would you describe your style?
a)Feelings played on paper for others to feel.
q) Do you go through any certain processes while trying to produce your work?
a) My process is trying to transform what I'm feeling in features, expressions, emotions, trying to excite the others making them feel the same as me. Even in the commercial work that I do try to identify what I feel about that subject, so as to touch people.
q) What are you working on at present?
a)I am now a collaborative project called i4haiti, where incentive other illustrators around the world to create illustrations from photos taken in Haiti after the earthquake.
Every picture I saw of Haiti created in me such adverse reactions, sadness, hope, anger, I believe that other people also feel that way, so I had this idea. It is a way to show that we care, that are interested.
Also I'm posting a series of illustrations called My love while sleeping, I did as the woman I love sleeping, which resulted in a book of the same name, I am seeking support to exhibit and publish the book. http://meuamorenquantodorme.blogspot.com/
I am very interested in photography and I am also trying to improve my images and do interesting work on this, my last was In Bragança faith has rhythm, with photos that capture the movement of the dances Marujada in Bragança, in the interior of Pará

a)Frankly, the gallery who wanted to show my work, preferably someone outside Brazil.

a) I like Picasso, who made the pop art, Andy, Lichtestein, I like Basquiat, I am very interested by the street art of Banksy, Os Gemeos, like the illustrators Glauco Dionigi, Nando Costa, Stephen Sigmeister designers like David Carson comic masters like Will Eisner, Frank Miller, Robert Crumb, new talent and Marjane Satrapi, Dash Shaw, David LeChapelle photographers like Robert Doisneau, Cartier Bresson, Terry Richardson, Bob Wolfeson, Sebastião Salgado, the big names in advertising as Marcelo Serpa, Rodrigo Butori, Icaro Doria, Paul Belford, entangling others.
q) What books are on your nightstand?
a)The book, "Whatever you think, think the opositive" by Paul Arden, some books of photographers, many comic book and several design and fashion magazines.
q) To what weaknesses are you most indulgent?
a)It should have a daily habit of training the dash, but I only do when my heart tells.
q) Well, first of all please tell us a little about yourself.
a) I come from a graphic design and advertising background, that is my trade and I have been into the street art scene ever since I was a child growing up. As a teenager I used to ride a lot, play a fair bit of street hockey and go around tagging, I don’t ride any more though as I was a bit fearless back then. I document on the street art scene for www.crackforyoureyes.com a fair bit as I’m always painting with my fellow artist friends.
q) Had you always planned on being an artist [or had you other hopes]?
a) I would have to say no the that to be honest as I’ve always been involved in artwork and advertising but never assumed that I would become an artist, it’s just been a bit of a hobby of mine. I have been producing more and more artwork of my own as well as commercial projects for Beautiful Crime vs Armani Exchange and also for FatFace Clothing Stores.
q)Do you have a preferred medium to work on? Why?
a) My preferred medium is spray paint and acryllic, The control you can have with spray paint and the different textured backgrounds you can create with acryllic add a nice dimension to the concept of the piece.
q)How would you describe your style?
a) Innocent but sexy and provocative looking girls is all I can say really. It reflects what I like to see myself and what pleases me to the eye. It’s not filth but beauty.
q) Do you go through any certain processes while trying to produce your work?
a) I have an idea of what kind of pose I would like the piece to be. I will use my own photography or source any that I find, ask the owner’s permission if that’s the case. I have just received some images from a person with their permission. That image is next on my agenda and once again it’s a hot chick.
Once I have an image that I wish to produce as a stencil I will the layer it up into how many colours I wish to use. Depending on how big the piece is I will either project the piece onto a wall and draw onto the card or just print the piece out and draw onto the card, all done by hand. Once I have drawn the layers onto the card, I will then hand cut all the pieces ready for a test spray.
q) What are you working on at present?
a) I’m working on a piece titled ‘Fallen Angel’, a girl crouching down with a winged tattoo on her back and the wording Fallen Angel. This is only a 2 layer piece, black and white but I will create a background for this when I paint onto a canvas. I have also just cut this piece 1 mtr wide by 1.2 mtrs tall to paint down in Portsmouth on a 6.2 mtr wide by 2.5 mtr piece of hoarding
q) What about recent sources of inspirations?
a) Different painting techniques using a variation of mediums to create textures, paste-up and paint, old bill boards on the streets, decaying from contact with the elements.
q) What are some of your obsessions?
a) Well, I am completely obsessed with Parisian Street Artist INVADER, my friends will tell you the same, I go around finding the space invaders, have invasion kits, invader maps and books (if I was somebody looking at me then I would think stalker, but I’m far from that).
I have an obsession with Adidas shell toes and originals and also Tiger Onitsuka
q)Which galleries have you shown at and which galleries would you like to show at?
a) I have some of my work at Gallery 90 (FinsburyPark) and Graffik Gallery (Portobello Road), both located in London.
I would love to show some of my work at the following galleries: Signal Gallery, Urban Angel (both (Shoreditch) and Stolen Space (Truman Brewery, Brick Lane)

a) Take your time, create your own identity – style and don’t rush into things. Speak to other artists, watch them paint for some tips and techniques, I’ve done that myself.
